Project Selection Criteria
Projects will be assessed based on the following criteria before an application is accepted or denied.

Project Rationale
- fit with NRCan's mandate – refer to the NRCan Topics on the menu bar on the left of our website for the priorities of the department
- provide a benefit for student, organization, community, region, country

Project Description
- project clearly defined with objectives & measurable outcomes
- clear job description & work plan with tasks & timelines

Skill Development
- development of specialized career-related skills (concrete examples)
- development of employability skills (concrete examples under each of the skill types: Fundamental, Personal Management, and Teamwork ) - refer to The Conference Board of Canada's Employability Skills 2000+ document for explanations and examples
- opportunities for networking with professionals

Orientation & Supervision
- skill assessment & development plan for intern
- appropriate supervision & professional support (training, coaching, mentoring, follow-ups, performance evaluation, etc.)
- action plan to help support transition to job market during & after internship

Budget
- complete estimates & coherent justification
- employer’s financial contribution is at least 50% of intern’s salary
- other sources of funding disclosed
