How to Apply for this Program

Interested partner organizations should become informed of the internship objectives and project criteria prior to submitting a project proposal using the forms below. To apply, partners must complete and submit all of the required forms.

If you have any questions, you can contact the NRCan Program Coordinator at any time. Note that a partner may have a project pre-approved before an eligible intern is identified although funding can not be guaranteed in these cases.

Interested youths are encouraged to market themselves directly to potential employers as possible candidates for internships under this program.

Project Assessments

Proposals will first be screened to ensure that all participants (interns and partners) meet the eligibility requirements. After the initial screening, projects will be assessed based on how they meet the criteria listed in the section Project Selection Criteria and also any other developmental skills that the intern will gain that have not been listed. These should be clearly demonstrated in Annex B of your application.

An internship can not begin until after the contribution agreements have been fully signed by both parties (the partner and NRCan).

What happens after the application is received?

You should be receiving an email to confirm that your application has been received. Shortly after, a second email will be sent to notify you that the proposal has either been approved or declined. If the internship has been approved, you should also be receiving a copy of the fully signed contribution agreement as part of the email. You can then expect to receive a cheque for 75% of the total contribution as an advance in the mail.

Around halfway through the internship, you should be receiving an email from an NRCan representative to confirm that your intern is still under your employment. Please reply promptly.

At the end of the internship, you must send in a final report to NRCan and ensure that your intern submits a final questionnaire. Once these have been received, they will be reviewed prior to NRCan sending out the final payment.
