Geologic Map Flow Project
The success of GEM will depend largely on its ability to rapidly disseminate quality geological information in support of mineral and energy exploration. Defining a process to enable the effective and efficient compilation, interpretation, management and dissemination of geologic map information is the basis of the Geological Map Flow (GMF) Project. GMF will develop robust, streamlined, and integrated procedures and tools to enable a more effective management of geological map data and information.
This implementation includes:
- Robust procedures and tools for a more efficient collection of field data using a combination of off-the-shelf GIS software customized for the collection of geologic information and standard procedures supporting quality information gathering;
- Effective compilation and information management tools designed around an expandable geo-database supporting the geological map information that is collected, compiled and interpreted;
- A streamlined dissemination process which will enable a quicker delivery of consistent print-ready and GIS-ready geological map products;
- The comprehensive and timely training of project staff in the use and maintenance of the various components and tools of the geologic map flow process.
The use of standards, robust tools and well defined procedures in managing geologic map information will enable GEM to deliver quality data, information and knowledge in a timely fashion…with confidence.
