The Earth Sciences Sector has extensive experience in promoting Canadian earth sciences technologies and know-how in many parts of the world. The Management Services and International Affairs Division organizes science and technology, research and business development missions to various regions of the world to promote Canadian expertise abroad and assist in creating opportunities for the Canadian earth sciences industry in foreign markets.

Its focus is on creating business and research exchange opportunities in emerging markets to achieve the optimal return on investment for the Canadian private sector, academia and the Canadian taxpayer. Canadian foreign and development policy goals, as defined by Canada's Global Commerce Strategy, guides the scope of our work. The priority regions include China, India, Latin America and Africa. Our focus is further refined by many secondary considerations such as regional stability, international assistance, level of public-private partnership opportunity or pre-existing agreements.
