CURRENT S&T / RESEARCH

As a remote sensing specialist, Sylvain contributes to different programs within CCRS by improving the retrieval of biophysical properties of vegetation (crops, shrub, and forest) from remote sensing platforms and field instruments.

  • Leaf area index measurements in the field using hemispherical photography.
  • Modelling of hemispherical photography and terrestrial LiDAR data for retrieval of biophysical parameters of vegetation canopies.
  • Retrieval of leaf area index using polarimetric Radarsat-2 data.
  • Leaf area index mapping of Canada’s north.
