Centre for Topographic Information - Sherbrooke
The Centre for Topographic Information - Sherbrooke (CTI-S) is responsible for the acquisition, management and exploitation of digital topographic information to promote Canada's sustainable use of natural resources, environmental protection, economic development opportunities, as well as political, security and sovereignty issues.
The Centre also develops and provides access to fundamental national topographic databases for the delivery of paper maps, aerial photographs, images, and digital files, plus online services to meet the needs of a wide range of internal, external and international clients.
CTI-S participates in several data management and dissemination initiatives, such as the GeoGratis portal, and the Earth Sciences Sector's contribution to the GeoBase program. In addition, the Centre is the custodian for national topographic databases and creates digital topographic files and products in formats and scales for various uses. As well, in crisis situations, the Centre supports emergency operation teams by supplying topographic information and mapping expertise.
