Geology
Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals (GEM)
GEM will focus mainly on mapping the Arctic and will use modern geological methods and standards to identify the potential for energy and mineral resources.
Geodynamics
The Global Change component of the Geodynamics Program focuses on the effects of postglacial rebound.
Marine Geoscience
Over 70% of the earth's surface is covered by the oceans and a large proportion of the world's population lives next to the water. By studying marine geologic processes we can better understand the effects these processes will have on humankind.
Sea to Sky: The Natural Wonders of the Sea to Sky Highway
As part of Highway 99, the Sea to Sky highway winds its way from the ocean, through the Coast Mountains, past volcanoes, glaciers, dramatic valleys and coastal rainforests. Much of the spectacular landscape was created by massive energy and upheaval caused by the ongoing collision between the North American tectonic plate and the offshore oceanic plate.
