Glossary Help

The CCRS Glossary contains definitions for over 1,000 remote sensing terms and
acronyms. Some of the terms have extended explanations and illustrations.

There are two ways to select a term. Either enter a term in the search form or
choose a subject category from the browse list.

  1. Search

If using the search option, enter a term (e.g. "interferometric") or part of a
term (e.g. "interfero") into the first keyword box. A term may have one or more
words (e.g. "local incidence angle"), all of which can be entered into the first
keyword box, but must be separated by spaces. The search is not case sensitive.
You can use wildcards (? *) to represent (respectively) single or multiple
    unspecified letters.

    Boolean Operators

Use these connectors from the drop down list to further qualify your
    search

    • AND - Displays only terms containing both of the specified words
    • OR - Find terms containing at least one of the specified words
    • BUT NOT - Use this operator to exclude some terms from your search.
  2. Browse

If selecting a subject category (phenomena, techniques, radar, etc.), a list
of terms fitting that subject will be displayed in alphabetical order. This
listing may take a few moments to generate, since it will likely contain several
hundred terms. The listing will be displayed in increments of 50 terms. Browse
the listing and click on the term for which a definition is required. Note that a
term may be found in more than one category.
