Physical rock properties database
The National Rock Properties Database is comprised of two sets of data:
-
In-situ borehole and core sample measurements of the following variables:
These data were collected from borehole geophysical logs and measurement of core samples, acquired since 1980. All of these data are in the searchable database.
- density
-
electrical
- resistivity
- induced polarization (IP)
- self-potential
- acoustic velocities (Vp, Vs)
- natural radioactivity (K, U, Th)
- magnetic susceptibility
- temperature
-
Laboratory measurements of the following variables from rock samples:
These data were acquired from measurements of rock samples collected across Canada. The database currently contains only the data from Ontario samples. Insertion of the remainder of the data is in progress (2006-12-12). As an interim measure, all of these data are provided in a downloadable Excel spreadsheet or CSV file.
- density
- acoustic velocities (Vp, Vs)
