General On-Line Search Instructions

To locate air photos on our new web application, click on the 'NAPL online' link posted on our main webpage.

Please note - you are not required to register for an account to perform a search

Once you have entered the application and a map of Canada has successfully loaded, follow the steps included below:

  1. Click on the 'Locate' tool in the menu to the left of the map of Canada. This box will expand to give you several options to choose from (i.e.; Place Name, Coordinates, etc..). Enter the information as needed and click on locate. The map should then zoom over to the area of interest specified. You may want to use the AOI (Area of Interest) tools located above the map to refine the search area.
  2. Click on the 'Search' tool in the same menu used to locate and double click on 'National Air Photo Library'. Enter the search criteria as needed - make sure to click a number on the calendar if you would like to set up the time range and always change the maximum number of results to 500.
  3. A table should appear below the map with all the available photos for your area of interest. Click on the column 'Date Acquired' once to reorder photos in chronological order. Once they have been reordered, scroll to the bottom of the table and change the number of results per page to the maximum.

** You will see a preview column in this table. If you are able to activate the box, a preview is available for this photo. If not, the photo has not been scanned into the application. We are currently in the process of scanning all the photos for the application.
