Land Survey Documents

The Canada Lands Survey System maintains and provides cadastral survey plans, field notes and related documents to support property rights on Canada Lands.

Survey Plans

Survey Plans establish official boundaries defining the extent of a person's ownership, or other rights in land. A legal survey plan consists of two parts:

  • a demarcation on the ground of the boundaries of the rights; and
  • a legally authorized document depicting the location of the boundaries.

Survey plans are recorded in the Canada Lands Survey Records which is the official repository of over 60,000 related documents dating back to 1867. These documents can be searched, viewed and downloaded from this web site.
