Office of Greening Government Operations

Best practices for sustainability

The Office of Greening Government Operations has developed a series of guidelines that relate to the scoping and implementation of greening government operations targets under the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy. These guidelines are designed to help departments and agencies scope the targets and design their implementation in a way that reflects the operational and policy realities that are unique to each department or agency. The Office has also developed a guideline describing the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy's reporting requirements through the Reports on Plans and Priorities/Departmental Performance Report process.

As such, the Federal Buildings Initiative has been identified as a "key mechanism to help departments achieve their emission reduction targets" as established by the Government of Canada's Federal Sustainable Development Strategy.

Work with the Federal Buildings Initiative to ensure that energy management best practices outlined by the Office of Greening Government Operations are implemented in your organization to maximize your efficiency and sustainability.
