Energy consumption in Canadian arenas

Natural Resources Canada will be working with Statistics Canada to collect information on energy consumption in Canadian arenas.

This information would be used to produce statistical estimates of energy use and establish baseline energy consumption figures for Canadian arenas, in order to support energy efficiency policy and program development. Data collected could be used to support the possible development of a 1-100 ENERGY STAR energy benchmarking performance score for arenas in Canada.

Statistics Canada would conduct this survey on behalf of Natural Resources Canada starting in the fall of 2015. The survey would include questions on facility characteristics, activity patterns and energy use.
