Offshore Oil and Gas

The oil and gas industry in Canada has been involved in offshore exploration and development since 1964.

The first production of oil offshore began in 1992 off Cohasset, Nova Scotia. In November 1997, production started at the Hibernia oil field off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
