Minister Paradis Announces Appointment of Members to the Canada–Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board


OTTAWA The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Natural Resources, today announced the appointment of David M. Wells and Conrad Sullivan to the Canada–Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB).

“The CNLOPB is a strong, independent regulator of Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore resources,” said Minister Paradis. “Mr. Wells and Mr. Sullivan will be great assets in the regulation of our offshore activities."

David Wells brings more than 25 years of experience in business development and project management. He specializes in policy development, financial management and budgeting, human resource management, corporate strategy and regulatory change.

Conrad Sullivan has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the fishing industry. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fisheries Council of Canada and as Chair of the Fisheries Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Board is the independent joint agency of the Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador responsible for the regulation of petroleum activities in the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore area. The Board's responsibilities include health and safety of offshore workers, protection of the environment, and management and conservation of offshore petroleum resources. The CNLOPB reports to Parliament through the Minister of Natural Resources.
