Aboriginal Engagement
Background and Objectives
Canada’s mines ministers unanimously agree that engagement between governments, Aboriginal peoples, communities, industry and other stakeholders is essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability of Canada’s mining sector. As a result, best practices involving government, industry and Aboriginal peoples must be developed.
Case Studies
Lessons learned and cases studies were collected: they identify significant critical success factors and key challenges for Aboriginal engagement. A compendium of 16 case studies on Aboriginal Engagement in the Mining and Energy Sectors illustrates the mutual benefits of investing in stronger relationships and partnerships between governments, Aboriginal peoples and industry.
