Regulation on Restricted Components

Information for Vendors of the Other Eight Restricted Components

Effective March 1, 2009, manufacturers, importers, exporters, buyers, providers or distributers for sale of any amount of the eight restricted components

  • hydrogen peroxide at a concentration of 30 percent or higher,
  • nitric acid at a concentration of 68 percent or higher,
  • nitromethane,
  • potassium chlorate,
  • potassium perchlorate,
  • sodium chlorate,
  • potassium nitrate, and
  • sodium nitrate

must comply with Natural Resources Canada’s Restricted Components Regulations by

  • enrolling with the Explosives Regulatory Division to be listed as an authorized seller,
  • taking security measures to protect their product and all related documentation from theft or unauthorized access, and
  • requesting proper identification (e.g., government photo identification) and intent of use from customers.
