Body and Chassis Components

This activity area groups research projects that require the development of lighter-weight specific body and chassis components, such as engine cradles, shock towers, and where not only strength and stiffness are important, but other material properties such as wear resistance, formability, dent resistance, joinability and corrosion resistance. The technical challenges in this area require both product and process development primarily in collaboration with industrial clients. The technical emphasis is on meeting specific application requirements.
