Science and technology is essential to ensure the responsible and sustainable development of Canada’s minerals and metals resources. We provide quality R&D and sound scientific advice to the minerals and metals industry, to provincial territorial and other federal departments involved in promoting or regulating these industries, and to the Canadian public.

We develop solutions and recommendations to:

• improve health and safety in mining operations
• develop technically sound solutions to environmental challenges; and
• improve industry competitiveness through enhanced productivity and efficient regulations

Technology transfer is a key component of our activities through the execution of projects with clients and partners, multistakeholder initiatives, trainings, publication of scientific and technical papers as well as participation and organization of conferences and workshops.
