Sampling and Characterization

The sampling and characterization group has expertise and capabilities in radioactive material sampling, characterization and in developing analytical techniques. It conducts a wide range of chemical, mineralogical and physical analyses on radioactive and surrogate materials. The group focuses upon total metal content, metal speciation, matrix heterogeneity and sequential extraction. Elements of concerns frequently studied are fission products, uranium, mercury, cesium and iodine.
