The NRCan NDTCB is transitioning to a new certification photo ID card design and format starting on April 26, 2017. All cards issued after May 12, 2017 will utilize the new design and format. Both the new and old card versions are valid unless the card has expired.
The Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) National Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB) develops and implements programs to certify people who inspect the metals and materials in the components and structures used in Canada’s natural resources industries. The certification program also aims to continually improve and maintain reliability, security and safety with regards to how industries use metals and materials across Canada. We are committed to quality, and have achieved certification for our quality management system to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
To be certified for non-destructive testing, you must achieve certification in compliance with the CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2014 standard (Qualification and Certification of Non-Destructive Testing Personnel).
We advise certification candidates to study independently before writing the certification examinations, and to use the latest versions of the Initial Certification Examination Guides (contact NDTCB to obtain initial certification examination guides). For recertification examinations, if applicable, use the Examination Guide for Recertification (PDF, 393 kb). We encourage candidates to consult all available reference materials, including the applicable acts, standards, regulations and safety codes.
