Federal Clean Energy Research and Development

Funding was allocated over 2 years for clean energy R&D conducted by federal departments and agencies, in a range of activities from basic research up to and pre-demonstration pilot projects.

The goal was to address gaps that required further advancements in knowledge and understanding, and testing of concepts, before emerging technologies could be brought to the stage of “real world” trials.

Federal scientists from 7 departments and agencies participated, as well as over 100 non-federal participants from more than 80 different organisations – industry, other levels of government, academia, non-government organisations and associations.
