Clean Energy Thematic Evaluation Data Sources

Figure on shows the four evaluations conducted by NRCan that provides findings for the six NRCan programs:

The first evaluation is the Renewable Energy evaluation which provides findings for NRCan program 1. ecoENERGY for Renewable Power; and NRCan program 2. ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat.

The second is the evaluation of the Energy Efficiency for Industry, Housing and Buildings which provides findings for NRCan program 3. ecoENERGY for Buildings and Houses; NRCan program 4. ecoENERGY for Retrofit: Homes and SMO; NRCan program 5. ecoENERGY for Industry.

The third evaluation is Clean Electric Power Generation and the fifth evaluation is Oil & Gas which both provide findings for NRCan program 6. ecoENERGY Technology Initiative.

Findings - Performance

4. To what extent have intended outcomes been achieved as a result of the Clean Energy programs?

Approach

The figure provides 3 levels of information (ultimate, intermediate, immediate outcomes) on the consolidated Clean Energy Theme logic model.

At the top level, ultimate outcome is: Reduced emissions of GHGs and CACs from clean energy activities.

At the middle level, intermediate outcomes are:

• Adoption of energy efficiency products and services that result in reduced GHGs and CACs;
• Adoption of renewable energy products and services, and strengthened infrastructure, resulting in reduced GHGs and CACs;
• Third intermediate outcome: Availability of innovative, market-ready energy processes, products, and services that result in reduced GHGs and CACs.

At the bottom level, immediate outcomes are:

• Partnerships and collaborative agreements with stakeholders to promote clean energy activities that result in lower emissions of GHGs and CACs;
• Involvement by industry in developing and using energy efficiency products, services, and processes that result in lower emissions of GHGs and CACs;
• Transfer and/or use of clean energy technologies and practices leading to lower emissions of GHGs and CACs;
• Awareness and understanding among stakeholders of the potential for, and methods of, reducing GHGs and CACs through energy production and use
