Goal 2 – Enhancing Long-term Social and Economic Benefits
Canada has been blessed with an abundance of natural resources that provide social, economic and environmental benefits to Canadians and the world. Natural Resources Canada has an important role in ensuring the stewardship of these resources, so that present and future generations may continue to enjoy the benefits.
To this end, NRCan committed to such actions as the promotion of greater value-added of Canada’s natural resources, the development of new technologies, improvement of Canada’s trade and investment, and building capacity in resource-based communities. New commitments have been made in SDS - Now and for the Future to further promote innovation in resource development, to increase market access for Canadian resource-related industries, promote international business development, and to enable communities to practice sustainable natural resource management.
