Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is committed to providing information to help stakeholders understand their regulatory requirements. In this regard, NRCan welcomes stakeholder feedback on its current interpretation policy to support continuous improvement of the department’s delivery of interpretation services for its regulatory authorities

Effective and meaningful stakeholder involvement is essential to enable NRCan to identify our stakeholder concerns, which supports NRCan in fulfilling its mandate and delivering programs and services to Canadians. Through internal and stakeholder consultations, NRCan has identified areas for improvement and corresponding actions that will be implemented over the next two years (2015-17). Reports on progress will be posted by March 31st, 2016 and by March 31st, 2017 to provide Canadians with an update on NRCan’s performance in implementing these improvements. Performance metrics are to include progress against, or completion of, these areas of improvement.

NRCan will continue to review and revise, as necessary, the FAQs on its 5 most accessed regulations to ensure that the guidance and information provided are responsive, up-to-date and easy to understand.

NRCan will improve web navigation on its acts and regulations webpages, to ensure that visitors can easily find the information they need.

NRCan will review and update regulatory guidance materials to ensure they remain current and are easy to understand.

NRCan periodically reviewed feedback from stakeholders to inform updates to regulatory interpretation materials.  The review encompassed information received through formal and informal stakeholder engagements on regulations, including through email and other modes of communication.  Certain webpages were redesigned for ease of navigation.  The FAQs and other materials were checked to ensure they are current and address stakeholders’ information needs.
