Building Regional Adaptation Capacity and Expertise (BRACE) is a program that is increasing the ability of communities, organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises and practitioners to access, use, and apply knowledge and tools on climate change adaptation in their work. BRACE addresses a critical barrier that is limiting action to reduce climate change impacts in Canada: knowledge and tools exist, but the capacity to use them is limited.

The program works in partnership with the provinces and responds to unique climate change adaptation needs and priorities across the country. Projects are delivered by organizations that are best placed to reach target audiences, using a range of approaches for building skills and expertise on climate change adaptation including specialized training, learning-by-doing, internships, and regional communities of practice.
BRACE encourages regional collaboration and knowledge-exchange to advance adaptation in areas such as natural-resource sectors, forest management, infrastructure and nature-based solutions.
The BRACE Program is a five-year (2017-2022), $18 million initiative under the Adaptation and Climate Resilience pillar of the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.
