Vik Pant, PhD
Chief Scientist and Chief Science Advisor

 

Vik earned a PhD in Information Science from the Faculty of Information (iSchool) at the University of Toronto. He plays a leadership role in developing NRCan’s science and technology priorities, providing oversight on cross-cutting science issues and opportunities. For example, he leads on the adoption of artificial intelligence to enhance NRCan’s ability to conduct science, economic analysis, and provide evidence-based policy advice via advanced analytical techniques.

Brenda Dogbey
Acting-Director

 

Brenda Dogbey holds a PhD in Population Health from the University of Ottawa. She provides leadership in Strategic Policy to the Digital Accelerator. Her career in the public service has spanned various Strategic Policy and Governance files at the Public Health Agency, Health Canada and Natural Resources Canada.

Hospice Houngbo, PhD
Data Scientist

 

Hospice earned a PhD in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science at Western University. Hospice is skilled in Information Technology, AI and Machine Learning, with experience in Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Time Series data analysis.

Alexei Lapouchnian, PhD
Data Scientist

 

Alexei earned a PhD in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Alexei specializes in formalizing requirements for engineering/business analysis with a focus on the design of complex self-adaptive, context-aware, customizable systems and business processes for integrating AI into enterprises.

Krishan Rajaratnam, PhD
Data Scientist

 

Krishan earned a PhD in Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto and has a background in machine learning and AI, focusing on Deep Learning technologies.

Sonia Chhabra
Special Advisor

 

Sonia is responsible for managing strategic partnerships and outreach for the NRCan Digital Acceleration and is part of the department’s policy advisor community, working to build cross sectoral connections.

Anjuli Szawiola, PhD
Policy Analyst

 

Anjuli earned a PhD in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Anjuli provides policy capacity for the Digital Accelerator. Armed with a technical background, she strives to bring a practical perspective to her role in supporting the implementation of digital solutions.

Joelle Trottier
Engagement Lead

 

Joelle is responsible for coordinating strategic partnerships and outreach for the NRCan Digital Accelerator and works to build connections within the department and externally.

Jaret Andre
Co-op student

 

Jaret is a co-op student, undergrad in Computer Science & Statistics with specialization in AI. Previous experiences include Software Engineer and web/mobile development.

Ciara Zogheib
Co-op student

 

Ciara is a graduate student in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. Her prior experiences include database administration and data analysis for ecological and archaeological projects.

Lydia Jeong
Co-op student

 

Lydia is a student in Master of Information at the University of Toronto with a background in Information Systems. She has experience in Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics, including Natural Language Processing and Time Series Analysis.

Mansi Jain
Co-op student

 

Mansi is a graduate student in Master of Information at the University of Toronto with a background in computer science engineering. She has experience in software development and application support in banking and finance domain.

Lydia (Youjing) Li
Co-op student

 

Youjing is a co-op student with a background in engineering and data science. She excels in domains like Big Data Analytics and Time-Series Forecasting.
