Energy management resources for buildings

High-performance building design and construction can generate important energy savings and greenhouse gas reductions. As research and development continue to yield new innovations, energy management becomes more complex.

The buildings of the future will be highly responsive

In the future, energy management will integrate renewable energy production, thermal storage and the ability of buildings to respond to signals from the electrical grid.

The high-performance buildings of tomorrow will adjust how they function in response to how their equipment is operating, the energy consumption their systems predict and the peak energy load scenarios in their respective locations.

Natural Resources Canada continues to research and develop energy management and demand responsive control strategies for buildings. Research activities focus on energy prediction and developing smart control strategies for managing energy in commercial buildings.

Here are some energy resources for buildings offered or approved by Natural Resources Canada.
