Download the HOT2000 software suite
HOT2000 is an energy simulation and design tool for low-rise residential buildings. This software is developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to support the EnerGuide Rating System, ENERGY STAR for New Homes, and R-2000 residential energy efficiency initiatives.
NRCan provides two versions of the software: HOT2000 for general use and HOT2000 for use in training and by energy advisors.
User support for HOT2000 is available only to program participants. General users can get support from these professionals.
HOT2000 for general use
This suite is for the general public and building professionals who do not hold a current license agreement to use the EnerGuide Rating System, ENERGY STAR for New Homes or R-2000 residential energy-efficiency initiatives.
Important: the complete download of HOT2000 can require an additional two (2) minutes after the “installation progress bar” indicates that the software has downloaded.

Training and energy advisor versions
Version 11 of HOT2000 includes the EnerGuide Rating System v15 training and energy advisor packages.
The training package includes the EnerGuide report generator (unprintable reports with “sample”). It is available to professionals who
- previously qualified as an energy advisor or quality assurance specialist, or
- achieve a passing grade on the EnerGuide foundation level exam.
The energy advisor package includes the EnerGuide Rating System report generator and is available to professionals who are qualified under EnerGuide v.15 requirements.
