Regulatory definition

Microwave oven, a household cooking appliance that is designed to cook or heat food in a compartment by means of microwave energy and includes one that has a thermal element that is designed for the surface browning of food.

Testing standard

CAN/CSA-C388-15 or Appendix I to Subpart B of Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, entitled Uniform Test Method for Measuring the Energy Consumption of Cooking Products

  • brand name
  • model number
  • manufacturer
  • the name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
  • whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
  • type
  • volume, in litres (cubic feet)
  • standby power in watts
