Decreasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water use from tight oil and gas reservoirs

Project description

Our team investigates technologies that minimize greenhouse gas emissions from well sites and decrease freshwater use in oil and gas production. We examine techniques to repair leaking abandoned wells, and capture and re-use gases escaping from wells, which includes determining the physical and chemical behaviour impact of re-injected gases into reservoirs.

We conduct our research in collaboration with industry, academia, and provincial agencies across the country, as well as organizations in the United States conducting similar research on American reservoirs.
