CoolSolution® Approach

Reduction of the Refrigerant Charge in an Arena

Transcript

Let’s take a look at how CoolSolution benefits the environment.

In Canada, synthetic refrigerants like R22 are used in many refrigeration systems.

When released into the atmosphere, these refrigerants become powerful greenhouse gases.

To counteract these negative environmental impacts, CoolSolution offers two options.

The first option consists of installing a factory assembled and tested packaged refrigeration system, as opposed to a system built on site. A packaged system minimizes the synthetic refrigerant charge. Since a packaged system is factory assembled, the refrigerant leak potential is minimized. A packaged system reduces greenhouse gas emissions due to refrigerant leaks by up to 80%.

The other option consists of using ammonia, a natural refrigerant that has minimal impact on global warming.

Managed by CanmetENERGY at the Varennes (Quebec) research centre.
