Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act

The proposed regulations support the occupational health and safety regime, including the safety of petroleum diving activities, under Part III.1 of the Acts. These regulations will replace “transitional” regulations that are currently in place and will expire on December 31, 2019 if not repealed before that date.

Indication of business impacts:

There are no expected business impacts. Administrative burden is to be determined.

Public consultation opportunities:

The OHS webpage contains links to the policy intent documents, as well as contact information, where interested parties can provide feedback.

There will be a consultation session for all interested parties in 2018.

Following the consultation sessions, draft regulations will be pre-published in Part I of the Canada Gazette for public comment. Final regulations will be published in Part II of the Canada Gazette prior to coming into force along with explanations of how public comments on draft versions of the regulations were addressed.
