The proposed regulations support the occupational health and safety regime, including the safety of petroleum diving activities, under Part III.1 of the Acts. These regulations will replace “transitional” regulations that are currently in place and will expire on December 31, 2019 if not repealed before that date.

Indication of business impacts:

There are no expected business impacts. Administrative burden is to be determined.

Public consultation opportunities:

Key stakeholders have been consulted on the first phase of policy intention (summer 2016) and will be invited to participate in consultation sessions on the next two phases in the 2017-18 fiscal year.  A follow up consultation session is expected to be held on the complete draft text of the proposed regulations in early 2018

General consultation practices will be undertaken as follows:

Following those consultation sessions, draft regulations will be pre-published in Part I of the Canada Gazette for public comment. Final regulations will be published in Part II of the Canada Gazette prior to coming into force along with explanations of how public comments on draft versions of the regulations were addressed.
