Energy Efficiency Regulations

Regulatory definition

Clothes washer, electrically operated clothes washer that does not require mechanical fastening to a floor or wall, is top- or front- loaded and has an internal control system that regulates the water temperature without the need for user intervention after the machine is set in operation.

Manufactured on or after January 1, 2018

Energy efficiency report requirements

  • name of product
  • brand name
  • model number
  • manufacturer
  • the name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
  • whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
  • household: integrated modified energy factor in L/kWh/cycle
  • household-style commercial: modified energy factor in L/kWh/cycle
  • annual energy consumption in kWh per year
  • size category: compact or standard
  • capacity, in Litres, of clothes washer’s container
  • integrated water consumption factor in litres per cycle per litre
  • maximum wash temperature available: less than or equal to 57.2°C or greater than 57.2°C
  • wash rinse temperature selections listed in Table 5 of CAN/CSA-C360-13
  • water fill control system: manual or adaptive
  • rotational axis of clothes washer container: horizontal or vertical
  • household-style commercial: method for payment, if any
