Geodetic reference systems in Canada
The United States, as part of its reference frame modernization, plans to replace its North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) with the new North American Terrestrial Reference Frame of 2022 (NATRF2022) by 2025. This will create 1.3 to 1.5 m horizontal coordinate differences at the Canada-U.S. border with respect to the NAD83 of the Canadian Spatial Reference System. Read a technical note from Geomatica or the pamphlet, Mind the gap! A new positioning reference.
