Backgrounder


Dr. James Archibald

Dr. Archibald is a mining engineer and a professor of mining engineering and served as the head of the Mining Engineering Department at Queen's University. He has several professional affiliations and has chaired numerous mining and metallurgy related boards. He holds B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University.

Dr. Gunter Muecke

Dr. Muecke is a professional geologist with significant academic experience in various areas of the geology discipline, notably as an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University. Dr. Muecke also has relevant nuclear experience, in particular as a member of SLOWPOKE II Reactor Committee and as Chief Investigator and Supervisor of the Neutron Activation Analysis Laboratory at Dalhousie University. He holds a B.Sc. in Geology and an M.Sc. in Structural Geology from the University of Alberta and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from Oxford University.

Dr. Stella Swanson

Dr. Swanson is an environmental consultant with extensive experience in environmental assessments, specializing in environmental risk management, aquatic biology and toxicology, ecological and human health risk assessment, strategic environmental planning and public consultation. Dr. Swanson also has a post-doctoral fellowship in Radiation Ecology and has worked in most areas of the nuclear cycle. She holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biology and a Ph.D. in Limnology from the University of Saskatchewan.
