Michael Richmond currently practises law with McMillan LLP and is Co-Chair of the Energy Law Group, where his work focuses on electricity, renewables and utilities. Mr. Richmond provides corporate, regulatory and financing advice to developers, investors and lenders of power projects, including renewable energy projects, district energy systems, co-generation facilities and demand-side management programs. From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Richmond served the Government of Ontario as Senior Energy Policy Advisor during the restructuring of Ontario’s electricity markets. Mr. Richmond also served on the Board of Directors of Toronto Hydro Corporation, Canada’s largest municipal electric utility. In recent years, he has served as a guest lecturer on energy policy at Queen’s University. Mr. Richmond obtained his Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa and his Bachelor of Law from the University of Toronto. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2000.
