OTTAWA — The Honourable Joe Oliver, Minister of Natural Resources, today announced the appointment of Michael Richmond as a temporary member of the National Energy Board (NEB).
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Richmond as a new member of the National Energy Board,” said Minister Oliver. “Mr. Richmond brings to the Board considerable experience related to the regulatory and financing aspects of energy projects. His skills, knowledge and expertise will contribute to the strength of the Board as it continues to fulfill its mandate.”
Mr. Richmond currently practises law with McMillan LLP, and is Co-Chair of the Energy Law Group, where his work focuses on electricity, renewable energy and utilities. In recent years he has also served as a guest lecturer on energy policy at Queen’s University.
The NEB is an independent federal agency established by the Parliament of Canada to regulate international and interprovincial aspects of the oil, gas and electric utility industries. The NEB regulates pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest.
