OTTAWA — The Honourable Joe Oliver, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, today announced his sixth official visit to Asia. Minister Oliver will travel to South Korea from October 11 to 16 and to China October 17 and 18. He will meet with senior government officials and energy industry executives to discuss the importance of trade and investment between Canada and countries with the fastest-growing energy needs in the world.

“Our government maintains an open, market-based approach to trade and investment and encourages capital investments that contribute to the long-term prosperity of Canada and Canadians,” said Minister Oliver. “We recognize that enhancing relationships and increasing trade with the Asia–Pacific region is vital to creating Canadian jobs and our country’s future prosperity.”

Minister Oliver will reinforce Canada’s role as a responsible, reliable and secure energy supplier and promote Canada’s commitment to market diversification. Scheduled events during the Minister’s visit include the:

  • Canada–Korea Energy Dialogue in Seoul, South Korea;
  • World Energy Congress in Daegu, South Korea; and
  • Canada–China Energy and Environment Forum in Beijing, China.
