Minister Paradis Announces New Federal Jobs in Sherbrooke

SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC Nine new federal jobs are being created and will contribute to the local Sherbrooke economy thanks to the establishment of a new Natural Resources Canada Invoice Payment Centre in Sherbrooke, Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Natural Resources, announced today.

“In addition to the benefits of creating local jobs, this is the latest step in NRCan’s efforts to better serve the public and ensure the delivery of the best possible administrative services in support of our programs,” said Minister Paradis. “Making our business processes more efficient is a priority at Natural Resources Canada.”

Sherbrooke was chosen for its bilingual service capacity, proximity to knowledge centres and a proven ability to attract and retain staff.

The new facility is located at NRCan’s Sherbrooke Centre for Topographic Information, a recognized leader in geomatics across Canada and internationally.

The payment centre consolidates into one single location the processing of all supplier invoices — 42,000 a year — across the whole of Natural Resources Canada and uses state-of-the-art e-payment technologies to make the entire payment process more efficient.
