Targeted Geoscience Initiative 4 (TGI4)

Description

Mineral resources are one of the principal economic drivers in many rural and remote Canadian communities but known reserves are depleting. In order to sustain economic viability in these areas, new geoscience knowledge and techniques are required to help industry more effectively explore for buried, as-yet undiscovered mineral resources in existing and emerging mining areas. The Targeted Geoscience Initiative 4 is the fourth generation of this program that develops our understanding of entire mineral systems and provides industry innovative ways for deep exploration, thereby maximizing yield. This initiative targets selected mineral districts across Canada to provide the best examples of Canada's major ore systems and to develop optimal predictive models and techniques for deep exploration. In turn, this program supports the natural resource sector's access to viable investment opportunities.
