Project Objectives

Julie Angus, CEO and co-founder of Open Ocean Robotics, aims to map, explore, and monitor the unknown 80% of the ocean. Using solar powered unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), Open Ocean Robotics hopes to monitor a large variety of ocean conditions at a much more cost-efficient and sustainable manner compared to normal crewed ships.

Expected Results

Open Ocean Robotics expects to create a ‘digital ocean’ using real-time data received from the sensors on their USVs. They currently have five USVs in different stages of development and hope to continue to scale their commercialization and push for more adoption of autonomous technology to collect data and solve problems.
