The Energy Innovation Program (EIP) advances clean energy technologies that will help Canada meet its climate change targets, while supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. It funds research, development and demonstration projects, and other related scientific activities.

efficiency and processes to reduce emissions from energy end-use

Accelerating
electrification and maximize benefits of low-emitting heat and power

Developing
cleaner hydrocarbon and renewable fuels pathways

Maintaining
safe and resilient energy systems to protect Canadians in the changing energy landscape

Managed by the Office of Energy Research and Development (OERD), EIP has an annual grants and contributions budget of $24M, and runs targeted calls, such as our Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada Program, and other strategic collaboration and investments programs.
