Fees for NDT Certification and Examination
New Electronic Payment System
The NDTCB has introduced an important update to its program for all users. An electronic payment system has been introduced to provide flexibility when applying for certification. Pre-authorized payment included with an application will still be processed. If payment is needed to process your application, you will receive a specific email from the NRCan NDTCB providing you with the appropriate payment link to our secure online payment system.
To protect your payment information, we ask that all forms containing credit card information (MasterCard, Visa, American Express) be submitted via fax or mail only. Do not send credit card information by e-mail. If you have any questions, please call 1-866-858-0473.
Service fees update public consultation
The NRCan NDTCB will be hosting a public consultation web conference to review a periodic adjustment of its service fees. Two 45-minute sessions will be held on February 22, 2023, with one in English and one in French. The English session will start at 11:00AM (ET) and the French consultation will start at 1:00PM (ET). To apply for your non-destructive testing (NDT) certification to the CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2014 standard, you will need to download, complete and submit a variety of forms. Your application package should include the requisite fees for the certification you need.
Your fees will vary depending on whether they are for:
For all fee types, the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) National Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB) accepts payment by company or certified cheque, money order or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or AmEx). If paying by credit card, print the name shown on the credit card, card number, expiry date, and authorized payment amount, and include the cardholder signature. We do not accept Government of Canada Acquisition Cards for payments. Payment from other government departments should be made by inter-departmental FIS transactions.
Email submissions: Please note that we do not accept credit card information by email. If you are submitting your application by email and paying by credit card, please include the name shown on the credit card, the authorized payment amount, and include the cardholder signature; do not include the credit card number and expiry date. After you have submitted your application by email, you may call or fax the NRCan NDTCB to give credit card information.
Fees and other process requirements are subject to change. All fees are subject to the current fee schedule in effect. Fees paid to the NRCan NDTCB are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Initial application and examination fees
The initial application fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada along with your application form for assessment of examination eligibility. Please note we cannot assess your application unless this fee accompanies the application. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, and applies only to the initial application for a given method and level, regardless of the number of repeat examinations.

Written re-examination fees
Your written re-examination registration fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada and must be remitted with your application for re-examination. The NRCan NDTCB must receive this fee before it can issue the written examination admittance and registration form, which allows you to participate in the re-examination(s).
The examination centre fee is payable to the selected examination centre.

Practical re-examination fees
When repeating the entire practical examination, the re-examination fees are the same as initial practical examination registration fees.
Your practical re-examination registration fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada and must be remitted with the application for re-examination. The NRCan NDTCB must receive this fee before it can issue the practical examination admittance and registration form that allows you write the examination.
The examination centre fee is payable to the selected examination centre.
