2022 Standard Implementation

Updated certification requirements and forms according to CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2022 standard is currently in effect as of March 31, 2024. IMPORTANT – ALL CERTIFICATIONS APPEARING ON THE LIST OF CERTIFIED PERSONNEL ARE ACTIVE AS OF THE DATE OF PUBLISHING AND THE CURRENT DATE EVEN IF THE EXPIRATION DATE HAS PASSED. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN APPLYING TEMPORARY EXTENSIONS AUTOMATICALLY PROVIDED BY THE NDTCB’s RESPONSE TO THE OUTBREAK OF COVID-19.

COVID temporary accommodations and extensions

This list of NDT personnel, currently certified by NRCan, was produced at NRCan and was accurate on the date shown. Certifications are valid until the listed expiration date. Due to COVID-19, select certificate holders have been granted temporary expiry date extensions.

Violation of NRCan Code of Conduct

NRCan NDTCB takes its certification integrity seriously. Penalties to any breach on the Code of Conduct are strictly enforced. See Violations of NRCan Code of Conduct page for the list of historical violations.

It is recommended that employers and customers verify the claimed certifications of their ndt personnel.

Individuals and companies are encouraged to actively verify personnel certification status by routinely checking the claimed certification status of individuals against this Internet list of NDT personnel currently certified by NRCan. This information is made publicly available in support of clause 9.3 of CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2022 as a supplementary mechanism of certification status verification.

IMAGES ARE UNRELIABLE

Do not accept a facsimile or scanned image of a wallet card as proof of certification; verify the information against this web site listing.

REPORT IRREGULARITIES

In order to protect the integrity of CGSB/NRCan certification and to avoid potential legal or financial issues, you are requested to alert NRCan to any irregularities that you may perceive in the certification of individuals.

LEGAL

This list of NDT personnel, currently certified by NRCan, was produced at NRCan and was accurate on the date shown. Any alteration of this information is strictly prohibited. Any use of this information for purposes other than intended by NRCan may be unlawful and/or in violation of the Code of Conduct for NDT Personnel.

The NRCan National Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB) has sole ownership of all paper certificates and pocket ID cards as issued. This property is subject to recall at any time.

NRCan NDTCB makes all reasonable efforts to ensure candidate applications, examination requests and certification submissions are completed as per service standard targets. Despite these efforts, the occurrence of errors, omissions and delays cannot be completely ruled out and NRCan is not responsible for any direct and indirect costs, expenses or delays which may arise.

CODE OF CONDUCT RECOMMENDED PENALTIES

  • CHEATING ON EXAM: 1-year minimum suspension of all certifications.
  • MISREPRESENTATION / FRAUD : 10-year suspension of all certifications.

The Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) National Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB) lists personnel who hold the following certifications:

  • X-ray fluorescence (XRF) certified analyzer operators based on ISO standard 20807 and Addendum to Health Canada Safety Code 32
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) according to the Canadian General Standards Board Standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712 (ISO 9712, IDT)

Notes:

  • The Directory of Certified Personnel was produced by NRCan and was accurate on the date shown.
  • Certifications are valid until the listed expiration date.
  • All candidates who are due for recertification must successfully complete their recertification examination before their next NDT certification renewal date.

Understanding the directory

Certifications to the above standards are offered in the following methods and sectors:

  • ET EMC = Eddy Current Testing Engineering, Materials and Components Sector
  • MT EMC = Magnetic Testing Engineering, Materials and Components Sector
  • PT EMC = Penetrant Testing Engineering, Materials and Components Sector
  • RT EMC = Radiographic Testing Engineering, Materials and Components Sector
  • RT A/S = Radiographic Testing Aerospace Sector
  • UT EMC = Ultrasonic Testing Engineering, Materials and Components Sector
  • XF = X-Ray Fluorescence

For all testing methods except radiographic testing, certifications are in the Engineering, Materials and Components Sector. For Industrial Radiography:

  • LCF = Light Alloy Castings and Forgings
  • WW = Welds and Weldments
  • HCF = Heavy Metal Castings and Forgings
