Project Objectives

The Hamlet of Kugaaruk is engaging with residents of Kugaaruk to create a community clean energy plan that will create a “smart energy” future while preserving Inuit knowledge and traditions, improving community infrastructure, creating jobs, and increasing climate resilience.

Expected Results

Through engagement and education, the Hamlet of Kugaaruk will share information with residents about the work and the value of reducing diesel use, incorporate community input, encourage documentation and integration of traditional knowledge, and ensure that renewable energy decisions are community driven.
