Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to develop a product and process design for high density solar photovoltaic modules, with up to 15% greater efficiency than the current state-of-the-art solar PV module designs.

This project will demonstrate a new design which can be applied to any type of solar cell technology, thereby increasing efficiencies, not only on a large scale, but also for more compact solar cells.

Expected Results

Possible results include commercialization, resulting in a product that could be ideally suited to a diesel off-set project in remote communities in Canada, as well as for rural electrification in global markets. This technology, if successfully developed could accommodate deployment of commercial systems for industries with large load requirements and a large GHG footprint. There is also potential to leverage the High Density Module (HiDM) product to develop a more comprehensive system to satisfy both domestic and global needs.
