Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to demonstrate a centralised Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) load-control and demand-response tool compatible with multiple charging networks. This will allow utilities to both adjust the power output of charging stations and dynamically change pricing based on predicted load usage.

Expected Results

The project expects to provide an innovative solution which will reduce peak power demands to the grid due to increased EV usage, and it will support future infrastructure planning decisions with real-life data.

An extension of this system could also be used to provide incentives for EV owners to charge at off-peaks periods through smart demand-based pricing. These results will lead to increased EV adoption rates, and reduced GHG emissions.
