Solution

Platforms for Life is a combination of four technologies:
Green building systems, platform-based and adaptable, using renewable materials; end-to-end software for multivariable design optimization, full virtual preconstruction, and manufacturing data; Integrated approach combining design, engineering, process and system thinking within one company; and, Automated prefabrication for an adaptable manufacturing process.

Project

Aims to prove their solution through implementation of software, databases, certification of building components, and startup of first facility with an output of up to 300,000 sq ft per year.

Expected Outcomes

Our technology can achieve passive house certification today, and carbon neutral urban housing within two years.

To achieve a 0.5GT reduction we will need to reach 40% of the market for new housing annually, representing a 50% annual growth rate in the first ten years. This represents 1700 factories producing 17B sq ft of new housing.

GHG reduction comes from three elements:

  • Construction using cross-laminated timber (CLT) which will reduce emissions by 0.50 Kg CO2e/m²a compared to conventional building materials.
  • Our buildings have a high performance reducing emissions by at least 2.22 Kg CO2e/m²a over the lifetime of a building.
  • By actively contributing to a healthier densification of urban environments it is expected to reduce emissions by 2.19 Kg CO2e/m²a.
