Atlantic Offshore Occupational Health and Safety Regulations

This regulatory initiative is part of the 2021-2023 Forward Regulatory Plan.

Enabling Acts

Description

The proposed regulations support the occupational health and safety regime, including the safety of petroleum diving activities, under Part III.1 of the Acts.

This regulatory initiative is associated with Natural Resources Canada’s Regulatory Stock Review Plan.

Regulatory cooperation efforts (domestic and international)

The proposed regulations have been developed in collaboration with the Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia, Transport Canada and the Labour Program within Employment and Social Development Canada, and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board.

Potential impacts on Canadians, including businesses

This initiative is expected to result in a net positive impact on Canadians and businesses by aligning, to the extent possible, with international requirements and minimizing the administration burden that exists under the transitional regulations.
